Frequently Asked Questions

Early learning happens everywhere. Everything children encounter offers a learning experience. Research shows that the early years provide the foundation for the rest of their lives. The best learning happens in nurturing, positive and stimulating environments. By providing these environments we are giving children the opportunities to fulfil their potential.

Early learning is providing the best experiences and opportunities for children to develop their love of learning.

Tenison Woods College Early Learning and Community Centre caters for children aged three to five years old.

7:00am–6:00pm Monday to Friday, 50 weeks per year, with specific early learning programs from 8:30am-3:30pm daily during the term and holiday programs during holidays.

Healthy morning/afternoon tea, lunch and water is provided by our own Sugarloaf Café staff and included in the daily cost.

Daily/weekly fees are outlined in the fees schedule. The Child Care Rebate is also available on these fees and not included on the schedule.

Enrolment in the Early Learning Centre is separate to the college. A new enrolment form is needed for enrolment into Tenison Woods College.

Our maximum is 83 children per session.

Children attending the Early Learning Centre are required to wear our polo shirt which can then be worn through to Reception at Tenison Woods College. This uniform has been selected to provide warmth, comfort and room to play. Information will be forwarded with the enrolment package.

Our Junior School provides an engaging learning environment for students from Reception to Year 5, where every student is encouraged to ‘let their light shine’.

Located in its own section of campus, students also have access to many of the College’s facilities, including the library, canteen and Barrie Holmes Stadium.

Students benefit from a carefully structured yet innovative approach to education, which focuses on accelerating the physical, intellectual, spiritual, social and emotional development of each child.

We place a strong emphasis on quality teaching and learning in a safe supportive learning environment.

In addition to Reading, Writing, Maths, English and Science subjects each child learns Italian, Computing, Music and Drama. For those students with extra learning needs, the College offers an advanced Special Education program with access to customised learning support.

Backed by our Catholic identity, Tenison Woods College places a strong commitment to pastoral care where we focus on developing the whole person as well as academically extending all learners, and building relationships with our families and school community.
